Shopping Through New York With HelenQ

Shopping in one of the busiest cities in the world is a bit of a daunting feeling. After all, seemingly every corner has another must see boutique or luxury shop in New York. Despite this, HelenQ explored The City to create this post for you: a definitive list of everything you must-see and do while visiting The Big Apple!

FIRST STOP: Bloomingdale's

Our trip was a bit more special than most because we were participating in a VIP shopping experience! As part of the experience we had a personal shopping guide who helped us navigate the store, attended to our shopping needs, and gave us fashion advice while we shopped. They were very attentive, professional, and enthusiastic, plus many of them can speak multiple languages. Another perk of the VIP experience was that we received access to the VIP room where we got to sip champagne and see special edition and Bloomingdale’s exclusive pieces from Hermés and Dior.

Bloomingdale’s carries a multitude of clothing, shoes, and accessory brands including BlankNYC which I love; their clothes have that edgy New York vibe, plus the clothes are very reasonably priced for good quality. What’s great about Bloomingdale’s is you can create full outfits with pieces from multiple brands such as Stuart Weitzman, Rebecca Minkoff, ZAC Zac Posen, and Marc Jacobs.

After we shopped their clothes and shoes for a bit we decided to check out their beauty department. If you need any kind of make-up or beauty supplies at all, you are in the right place. One of my favorite make-up brands, Charlotte Tilbury, can be found at Bloomingdale’s! They have a huge selection of lipsticks among all of the other great highlighters, blushes, and foundations they carry.

In addition to the more well known brands, Bloomindale’s carries niche brands such as Royce Monogram Shop. We were so excited when we found out we could get pieces monogrammed and they’ll monogram in Chinese as well!

These are just a few highlights from our trip to Bloomingdale’s but there are so many more amazing things to discover within the store! If you are looking for luxury brands or high end purses and shoes, Bloomingdale’s is the perfect place to go!

Helen’s Tips:

– If you’re looking for specific shopping assistance, the VIP experience is a great way to shop at Bloomingdale’s. Schedule your appointment before you go; all appointments can be made through the Visitor’s Service area on the first floor.

– Not looking to seriously shop? Bloomingdale’s is a great place to browse their extensive selection of clothes, shoes, and accessories. Be sure to download their free iPhone/Andriod app for information about sales, events, restaurant information, and a map of the store

NEXT STOP: One World Trade Center

Visiting One World Trade Center was an amazing experience. The building itself is gorgeous; the structure was built on the site of the collapsed World Trade Center and it was built by the extraordinary architect, Santiago Calatrava. The building is now host to Westfield mall and over 100 brands like Disney, Hugo Boss, and Apple which are visited daily by over 200,000 shoppers and tourists! It’s easy to get caught up in Westfield WTC and spend the whole day shopping- if you’re anything like us you will! Recharge at JOE & THE JUICE, which serves up healthy snacks and drinks.

Helen’s Tip:

– The building has a 108 meter glass skylight so head up to the second level for the perfect picture spot- though this entire building is a great backdrop for any pictures you take!
